What this day is actually for
Read its exclusions and the whole argument is there. Scenic World: excluded, described by the operator as too touristic. The zoo: the same. The Parramatta River ferry: the same again. This is a day that has looked at the standard Blue Mountains itinerary and decided against most of it.
What it puts in the space is walking. The centrepiece is the descent to the foot of Wentworth Falls, where Jamison Creek drops 100 metres to the valley floor. The National Parks and Wildlife Service grades that track moderate: 1.4km return with about 200 steps between the level path and Fletchers lookout, and the way back is the harder half.
It is also the cheapest full day captured here, which is the part that surprises people. Leaving out the paid attractions is most of the reason. Who this suits, and who should choose differently
Book this if
You want to be in the country rather than looking at it from a railing, and you are happy with about 200 steps down and the same back up. You are travelling on a budget and would rather spend the difference on a second day than on a cable car. You have dietary requirements and are tired of being an afterthought.
Book something else if
You are travelling with anyone under fourteen: this day sets that as a hard floor. Stairs, a heart condition or limited mobility are also reasons to choose differently. The meeting point, and why it catches people out
You want 812 George Street, Haymarket, on the road in front of the red doors of St Laurence Church — not Pitt Street, which is the rear of the same building. It is a three-minute walk from Central station, best exit beside platform one, and about a minute from the Haymarket light rail stop.
Pickup is at 7:30am, and it arrives in one of several vehicles, so watch for your booking name rather than a particular livery. There is no hotel pickup on this day and no luggage storage on board.
Know before you go
- Fourteen is the minimum age. Not a guideline. Book the all-inclusive day instead if you are travelling with younger children.
- The group runs about twenty to twenty-seven. Larger than the word minibus suggests, so book a smaller vehicle if that matters to you.
- Bring a refillable bottle. Drinks are not included with lunch, and the operator calls a bottle essential rather than optional.
- Dietary needs are taken at 7:30am. Not at booking. Say it at the kerb.
- Lincolns Rock is closed by the council. Other lookouts are substituted, so do not book this day expecting that one in particular.

It varies more than any other single thing about these days. The coach tours built around Scenic World and a wildlife park keep you on flat, paved lookouts. The bushwalking days put you on two to four kilometres of formed trail with roughly eight flights of stairs down to Wentworth Falls and back up, and the card for each tour says which it is.
Are the day tours suitable for children?
It depends which one, and the minimum ages are set per tour rather than across the board.
